Walkovers highlight latest round of Namilco U-17 football

Bachelor’s Adventure and Paradise Sports Club combined and Plaisance defeated Beterverwa­gting /Triumph United and Golden Grove respective­ly when the East Coast Demerara zone of the National Milling Company (Namilco) Thunderbol­t Flour u17 tournament continued yesterday.

The combined Bachelor’s Adventure and Paradise Sports Club team defeated BV/Triumph United 3-1.

Ronaldo Morgan opened the scoring for the winners with a 10th minute strike while Tishawn Gordon doubled their lead in the 65th minute.

Jerome Robinson netted for BV/Triumph in the 75th minute but the outcome was sealed 10 minutes later when Gordon scored his second goal.

Meanwhile, Plaisance edged Golden Grove 2-1 at the Grove Community ground while Diamond United and Grove Hi-Tech secured wins without breaking a sweat after receiving walkovers from Soesdyke Falcons and Herstellin­g Raiders respective­ly.

Over in West Demerara, Slingerz FC defeated Beavers via walkover at the Den Amstel ground. Action in the event continues today at the same venues.

In the East Coast of Demerara leg, Buxton Youth Developers will oppose Buxton Stars from 13:00hrs while Buxton United will faceoff with eternal rival Victoria Kings from 15:00hrs.

In the East Bank section, Agricola will oppose Yarrowkabr­a from 10:00hrs while KuruKururu will tackle Mocha Champs from 12:00hrs. In the West Demerara zone, Eagles will oppose Wales from 12:00hrs. Roberto Neto, left and Aravinda Singh during their first round match yesterday.
