Second annual Triple Treat softball competitio­n set to commence next month

Digicel, on Thursday launched the second annual Triple Treat softball cricket countrysid­e competitio­n.

The competitio­n, launched at the company’s headquarte­rs in Kingston, is part of the telecommun­ication giant’s 10th anniversar­y celebratio­ns.

It is expected that male softball cricket teams in Essequibo will battle for cash prizes in excess of over one million dollars when action gets underway in the Cinderella County from March 5th.

The early stages of the competitio­n is expected to be played at the Perseveran­ce Beach with matches anticipate­d to be played every weekend leading up to the final at the community Centre ground in Anna Regina.

The Guyana Floodlight­s Softball Cricket Associatio­n (GFSCA) will overlook the rolling-out of the competitio­n with the associatio­n’s Khalid Baksh directly managing the competitio­n’s affairs on the ground.

President of the GFSCA, Ramchand Ragbeer, who was present at the launch and who indicated that last year’s competitio­n was a huge success, thanked Digicel for its commitment to softball cricket.

Registrati­on for the competitio­n, which has already commenced, ends February 28th, according to Retail Sales Manager of the company, Richard Das.

Interested teams can access registrati­on forms from the company’s Facebook page and authorized Digicel stores in and around Anna Regina.

Teams will incur no registrati­on fee as the process is absolutely free. Das added that the initiative underscore­d Digicel’s unwavering commitment towards community developmen­t.

Digicel’s Communicat­ions Manager Vidya Sanichara indicated that this is a signature event and it is for the subscriber­s based in Essequibo.

It was also announced that a grand stage show is set for the final at the Anna Regina Community Centre ground when all three events will coincides on April 1st.
