Top horses and jockeys compete today in Guyana Cup Fever

The highly anticipate­d Guyana Cup Fever will run off today at the famous Port Mourant Turf Club.

With top class racing, music and family fun, the annual Easter Sunday event which has been a staple over the years is definitely not to be missed.

Today’s eight-race card will display the best horses, jockeys and trainers in the industry. A day at the Easter Meet is also a great opportunit­y to catch up with friends and entertain guests in excellent facilities with a fantastic atmosphere.

With the Jumbo Jet conglomera­te holding the reins as the official sponsor, this lucrative race meet with in excess of $7M up for grabs will surely be a hit.

The highlight of the day will be the feature B and lower event, for the first prize of an appetizing $1M and trophy over nine and a half furlongs (1900M).

In the Co-feature 1200m event for E and lower the organizers have put up $600,000 and a trophy for the winning stable.

The other races include: The Three-year-old event for Guyana Bred horses which have its first prize tagged at $200,000 and trophy.

The G1 and lower 1200m event where the winning horse will run away with $300,000 and trophy.

The second two-year-old event is for Guyana bred horses and has a $600,000 price tag along with a trophy for the top runner over 1000m.

The H3 and lower 1200m race guarantees the winning horse a purse of $275,000 and a trophy while the ‘I’ and lower race also goes over 1200m with the pole position takings being tagged at $225,000 and trophy.

Also, the L-Class 1200m event which the pole position stable will net $130,000.

The final race has $175,000 plus a trophy at stake for the winner of the J and event in another 1200m affair.

The top Jockey along with the runner-up, the top stable and champion trainer will all be presented with trophies and other incentives compliment­s of the organizers.

The organizers, Jumbo Jet Auto Sales have also have put together some interestin­g incentives for lucky turfites, especially for the early ones on race day.

The event will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
