CANU Head told of removal from post

Head of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Agency (CANU) James Singh was yesterday officially notified of his removal from that past which has resulted from recommenda­tions made by President David Granger as well as a Commission of Inquiry recently conducted into the unit’s role in the intercepti­on and subsequent release of a cocaine-laden vessel. It was Minister of State Joseph Harmon who hinted at a post-cabinet press briefing yesterday that it was recommende­d that Singh be removed and that this was indicated to the Minister of Public Security, Khemraj Ramjattan who is the subject minister. Singh when contacted yesterday told Stabroek News that he was informed of his removal by Ramjattan.
