Did Priyanka Chopra ditch IIFA Awards over gender pay gap?

(FilmiBeat) The Indian International Film Academy (IIFA) Awards is an important event in Bollywood and giving it a miss can be a loss for some actors, but Priyanka Chopra has revealed that she’s ditching it as her birthday is near and she wants to spend time with her family and friends. However, Mumbai Mirror says Priyanka opted out of the event because a male superstar was given a bigger pay cheque just to be there.

The report states that Priyanka was approached by the IIFA committee to perform at the show and host a segment, but she was turned off by the remuneration offered, especially when she learnt that a male superstar was receiving a mammoth amount just to be present. She ditched the event in New York and flew back to India instead and celebrated her 35th birthday in Maldives with her family. She and had a good time with her near and dear ones.
