Coconut milk in your beauty regimen

-

Coconut milk is back in a big way. Our parents and grandparents had long used it in cooking some of the most delicious dishes we had before it got the ‘fat’ tag and earned a bad name. No more. Coconut milk has been found to be healthy is health food experts now swear by it. But that’s not all. Coconut milk is also very useful as a natural beautification product.

Hair: Coconut Milk restores dry, damaged hair. A gentle massage for 5 minutes with homemade coconut milk followed by a hot towel can have a good nourishing effect. This is particularly beneficial for restoring dry, damaged and brittle hair, as well as split ends.

Coconut milk contains all the essential nutrients required for healthy hair, boosting your hair follicles and promoting hair growth. Apply coconut milk on your hair and massage for 3 to 5 minutes. Shampoo as usual, after 20 minutes.

You can either wash your hair with equal amounts of coconut milk and shampoo, or use coconut milk as a leavein conditioner. This adds volume to your hair, makes it less greasy and promotes longer, thicker hair.

Makeup remover: To remove your makeup, mix two tablespoons of olive oil and one tablespoon of coconut milk. Soak a disposable cotton pad and gently cleanse your face. Do not double dip, use another clean pad if you need more. This mixture can be stored in the fridge. Bring to room temperature and stir before use. Coconut milk also prevents acne. And for a facial scrub, soak oats in coconut milk and use as per normal.

To make a coconut milk anti-ageing mask, soak six to seven almonds overnight, peel their skins off next day, grind into a smooth paste and add five to six drops of coconut milk. Mix well and apply to your face. After 20 minutes, wash it off with lukewarm water. (Best Beauty Tips)
