Guyoil raises fuel prices
Citing recent hurricane activity, the state-owned Guyana Oil Company yesterday announced that fuel prices will be going up with effect from today. Gasoline will rise by $14 per litre, kerosene by $10, ULSD Gasoil by $15 and Gasoil (LSD) by $6. In a statement, Guyoil Marketing and Sales Manager, Eric Whaul said that a significant rise in acquisition costs at source has made the increases necessary. He said that the recent hurricane activity had exacerbated the situation, triggering a spike in market prices.
He said that Guyoil had maintained stable fuel prices since January 1, 2017 despite fluctuations. Higher fuels prices feeds into all sectors.
