Braith­waite leads CSF cham­pi­onships Down Un­der

- Per­saud also out­stand­ing on first day

Guyana’s top ri­fle shoot­ers Len­nox Braith­waite and Ma­hen­dra Per­saud were out­stand­ing on day one of the Com­mon­wealth Shoot­ing Fed­er­a­tion (CSF) ri­fle shoot­ing cham­pi­onships along the Gold Coast of Aus­tralia.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, at the con­clu­sion of the first day, Braith­waite was in the lead while his team­mate Per­saud was a mere point be­hind.

The tour­na­ment has at­tracted all the top shoot­ers in the world who will be rep­re­sent­ing their coun­tries at next year’s Com­mon­wealth Games to be held at the vary range.

Af­ter first day’s ac­tion, the stage one ag­gre­gate saw five shoot­ers end­ing with scores of 105.

How­ever, Braith­waite took the top spot af­ter hav­ing the high­est V-bulls count of 14.

His 105.14 was just ahead of Jim Bai­ley 105.13 (Aus), Peter Jory 105.12 (Guernsey), Ja­cobus DuToit 105.12 (South Africa) and Jan Jonck 105.7 (South Africa).

Braith­waite shot scores of 35.7, a per­fect score with all shots be­ing in the VBull at 300 yards, 35.4 at 500 yards and 35.3 at 600 yards.

It was an out­stand­ing day for Guyana as na­tional full-bore Cap­tain Per­saud is only one point be­hind shoot­ing 104.6, with scores of 34.2 at 300 yards, 35.2 at 500 yards and 35.2 at 600 yards.

The full-bore marks­men at­tended the tour­na­ment as prepa­ra­tion for next year’s Com­mon­wealth Games and they had also par­tic­i­pated in the Cana­dian Na­tional Full-bore Cham­pi­onships last Au­gust.

The Guyana Olympic As­so­ci­a­tion has been in the fore­front of their prepa­ra­tion along with Se­cure In­no­va­tions & Con­cepts Inc. The CSF cham­pi­onships con­tin­ues with two more stages and con­clude Novem­ber 8.
