GMR&SC Race of Champions meet ends today

The curtain will come down on the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club two-day Internatio­nal race of Champions Meet today at the South Dakota Circuit.

Competitor­s from Canada, the USA, Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Britain and hosts Guyana will battle for supremacy in the fourth and final round of the yearlong championsh­ips.

Trinidad, winners of last year’s championsh­ips will be looking to defend their title. In addition to the Caribbean Motor Racing Championsh­ips, two profession­al drift cars from Trinidad and Tobago as well as four SR-# radicals from Barbados will be in action.

Meanwhile, one of the country’s top Group Four drivers, Rupie Shewjattan said he plans to be in the middle of competitio­n for top honours.

Shewjattan, who will be piloting a Mitsubishi Evolution V, is eager to test his skills against the Caribbean’s best.
