First leg of Triple Crown Se­ries runs off to­day

Tur­fites get ready, the first leg of the in­au­gu­ral Triple Crown Se­ries will run off to­day at the Port Mourant Turf Club.

This is ac­cord­ing to CEO of the Jumbo Jet Thor­ough­bred Rac­ing Com­mit­tee, Nas­rudeen Mo­hamed Jr.

Mo­hamed Jr. said yes­ter­day that the Com­mit­tee will pro­ceed with the three legs in­stead of can­celling the first leg which was sched­uled to be staged last month but was then can­celed due to in­clement weather. The se­cond leg will be staged on April 29 at Ris­ing Sun while a date will be set for the fi­nale.

For the three legs, the C Class, 1200m event with a bounty of $1M each will be the main at­trac­tion.

The seven-race card will also in­clude events for trot­ters in the F Class and lower, Three-Year old Guyana Bred, H and Lower, J/K and lower, K Class non earn­ers and L and lower.

In ex­cess of 70 horses have reg­is­tered for a slice of the $8M in to­tal prize money to­day.

Mo­hamed Jr., also noted that many in­cen­tives in­clud­ing the grand prize of a car will still be for the tak­ing for lucky at­ten­dees. Ad­mis­sion is set at $1500 and start time is 12:45hrs.
