Rain pushes U-19 final into today’s reserve day

-

Overnight rains caused the final of the Guyana Cricket Board/ Hand in Hand Mutual Fire and Life Insurance Inter-County Under-19 to be shifted to the reserve day today.

The final was originally set for yesterday but the GCB deemed the venue, the Lusignan Community Center, East Coast Demerara unsuitable for play.

Should the game be played today, weather permitting, a new champion will be crowned after the defending champions Demerara failed to make it to the final which will be contested by Berbice and the Select U17s.

The last time these two teams faced off, Berbice dismissed the Select U-17s for 60 before smashing the target in quick succession.

Berbice are yet to bat first in the competition and the Select U17s will be wary of their mistakes against Berbice in their first round loss.

The Select U-17s will depend heavily on West Indies youth captain, Sachin Singh and wicketkeeper batsman Yeudistir Persaud.

Their middle order with the likes of Andre Seepersaud, Andrew Samaroo and Marvin Prashad is capable of match winning performances.

Seepersaud, Singh and Samaroo are good bowlers and with Nigel Deodat, Niran Bissu, Sylvan
