Jeffrey, Truelove, Mark Maloney in pole positions
Kristian Jeffrey, Harry Truelove and Mark Maloney will start on pole today after out-duelling their rivals on a scorching day of Time Trials yesterday at the South Dakota Circuit.
If yesterday was any indication of things to come, several records will be shattered today in the finale of the much talked about Ignite Race Meet.
Jeffrey will start in the number one spot for the Group 4 class followed by Mark Maloney, Rupie Seejattan, Mark Vieira and Quinlan Lall in second to fifth respectively.
He earned the right to occupy pole after clocking 33.3 seconds ahead of Barbados’ Maloney (35.259) and Guyana’s Seejattan (35.767).
“Still got some problems to work out but we are happy with pole,” Jeffrey said.
Maloney however will start on pole in the Radical SR3 Caribbean Cup class after clocking a best time of 32.978 seconds during qualifying. Guyana’s Calvin Ming was second fastest with 32.986 seconds. Current championship leader, Stuart Maloney of Barbados qualified third with 33.157 seconds while Jeffrey was fourth with 33.200 seconds. Time trials are not counted in the record books, but if any of the top four radical drivers emulate their performances today, the circuit’s 33.3 seconds record will be gone with the wind.
Meanwhile, Truelove, who rides under the Team Mohamed’s Enterprise eclipsed his brother and current CMRC super stock leader Matt. Harry’s 33.997s was not the fastest bike time of the day however, teammate, Richard Cooper riding the super sport bike posted 33.592.
Matt clocked 34.050s for second, with Steven Vieira posting 34.866 and Matthew Vieira recording a 35.665s best time.
Elsewhere on the track, Group two has Marc Gill of Trinidad (38.271s) starting on pole today with Shan Seejattan second by just one-tenth of a second with Chet Singh third.
Group three has Kristian Boodoosingh out of Trinidad, (35.665s) on pole ahead of countryman Ronald Wortman and Rameez Mohamed, while Annand Ramchand has pole position in the Choke Starlet Cup.
In the first of three races yesterday, Zalim Mohamed took the Street Cross class ahead of Rene Tucker and Shem Chattergoon while the Street Tuner Class was won by Raymond Seebarran ahead of Narine Dasrat and Vickey Persaud. In the final race of the afternoon, Mohamed Ahmed took the Street Tuner class ahead of Adrian Persaud and Seebarran. Today’s 24-race card revs off at 08:00hrs. See you there.
