A Rose Hall man, who on Friday refused a transfer from the Port Mourant Public Hospital for further medical treatment and discharged himself, has succumbed to a single stab wound that he sustained during an altercation with a businessman.

Dead is Wesley Harry, also known as ‘Blackmoore,’ 49, of Lot 47 Crawford Street, Rose Hall Town, Corentyne.

On Tuesday, a 48-year-old businessman of Lot 29 Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, reported at the Rose Hall Police Outpost that Harry, a known drug addict who suffered from a mental illness, had allegedly dealt him a blow with a piece of wood to the back of his head. The businessman subsequently proceeded to the Port Mourant Hospital for medical attention.

However, on the same day, Harry then reported to the police outpost that the businessman allegedly punctured his lower abdomen with a fork after a misunderstanding. Harry also went to the Port Mourant Hospital for treatment. However, after doctors decided to transfer him to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital on Friday due to his worsening condition, he refused, discharged himself and proceeded home.

Harry’s son later reported to police that his father began to bleed from his nose. Police visited his home and discovered Harry motionless. He was then rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

As of yesterday afternoon, police were on the hunt for the businessman, whose whereabouts were unknown.
