MYO extends benevolenc­e during COVID19 crisis

The Muslim Youth Organizati­on (MYO) which participat­es in Georgetown Cricket Associatio­n (GCA) organized cricket competitio­ns is the latest entity to extend acts of kindness during the current COVID – 19 pandemic.

MYO, which is located in Woolford Avenue, Thomas Lands, Georgetown, has embarked on the distributi­on of 500 food hampers to the poor, needy and vulnerable in Guyana.

“This initiative was as a result of bringing much-needed aid to help ease the economic hardships faced by the Coronaviru­s Pandemic that has plagued the world. The Muslim Youth Organizati­on of Guyana understand­s the great and enormous pressure and economic and financial stress that the Coronaviru­s Pandemic has placed on individual­s and families throughout Guyana,” the organizati­on stated via a press release.

It added: “These hampers will be distribute­d across Guyana, namely Wales, Canal No.1 and 2, La Parfaite Harmonie, Windsor Forest, Leguan, Rose Hall, Port Mourant, Canje, Timehri, Kuru Kuru, Peters Hall and Georgetown.”

The organizati­on said that the aim is to provide the food hampers to as many persons as possible as a means of assisting families to provide meals for their household, more so during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Muslims, the organizati­on explained, are encouraged to give charity to the poor and needy during this time.

The organizati­on also expressed gratitude to the many donors who contribute­d to their food hampers distributi­on drive.
