ECDFA to stage Electoral Congress today

With the COVID-19 pandemic thwarting the hosting of their elections since 2019, the East Coast Demerara Football Association (ECDFA) will finally conduct their constitutionally mandated electoral congress today at the Beterverwagting (BV) Primary School from 1:00pm.

This was confirmed by ECDFA General Secretary Gidell Austin yesterday during a brief interview with Stabroek Sport. According to Austin, the forum is scheduled to commence at 1:00pm, with a registration period of one hour being afforded to some of the clubs before the start of the meeting.

He expounded, “Our AGM is today at BV Primary commencing at 1pm.

Each club will send two representatives, we will allow for registration to take place at least from 12:00pm so those clubs who have not yet affiliated themselves and not done registration of players, we will accommodate that today before the meeting starts. I am looking forward to seeing everyone.”

The deadline for submissions of prospective slates was September 12th. Affiliation to the association is a prerequisite for clubs to be afforded the right to exercise their franchise. Each club is allowed two representatives but only one will be allowed to vote.

Prior to the election, the association was in the process of regulating its membership, as several clubs conducted their elections and completed the registration process.

Among the clubs that are expected to attend the AGM are Dynamic FC, Plaisance, BV, Buxton Stars, Melanie, Paradise, Golden Stars, Victoria Scorpions, and Mahaica Determinators.

At the moment, the ECDFA executive committee comprises President, Alfred King; 1st Vice President, Gregory Wickham; 2nd VicePresident, Jillian Frank; 3rd Vice President, Mark Pertab; Treasurer, Kessa Nedd; and Committee Members, Raymond Daw, Kevin Tixey, and Delon Adams.
