With just a week to go for the ‘Return of the Scorpio’ Pro/Am card, the combatants are ramping up their preparations.

Chief among them is the May 21 event headliner, Elton Dharry, who has his hard hat on, putting in sweatsoaked workouts at the world famous Gleason’s Gym.

The USA-based Dharry will headline the event at the National Gymnasium with Dexter ‘De Kid’ Marques in the co-feature against a pair of game Colombians.

“Training has been going good,” said Dharry yesterday who disclosed that he cannot wait to get back into the ring.

The event, which has an international flavour with a blend of talented youth and experience, will see the return of Dharry who has large fan base here.

Dharry will enter the squared circle against Ronald Ramos in an eight-round bantamweight fixture whilst Marques will battle Luis Carrillo in an eight-round super bantamweight encounter.

“I am training hard and I am looking forward to coming back home and putting on a show for my fans who always support me. As always I am coming to win, if the knockout comes, I will definitely take it but I am coming to win this fight even if it goes the distance,” Dharry declared.

The feature fight of the evening will mark Dharry’s return to the ring in over a year and will serve as a tune-up for his July encounter on local shores with Hugo Hernandez of Mexico for the WBC Silver Belt. Dharry, 37, fought for the WBA Super flyweight title in 2019 but suffered a controversial ninth-round stoppage loss to Australian Andrew Maloney in Melbourne.

A Caribbean rivalry will also resume on fight night as Terrence Adams is penciled down to face Barbadian, Ricardo Blackman while Anthony Augustin will match skills with Anderson Emanuel also of Barbados. The card will also feature a six-round super flyweight bout between Natalya Delgado and Darianis Garcia.

Five exciting professional bouts and an equal number of amateur engagements are confirmed for the upcoming fight night.

In what is anticipated to be the biggest fight night in recent memory, the Briso Promotions `Return of the Scorpio’ event is being projected to surpass the atmosphere, ambiance, and overall quality of the recently staged Patrick Forde Memorial Championships, which was hailed as the benchmark for a local boxing event.

Tickets cost $10,000 (VVIP), $6000 (VIP), $3000 (Ringside) and $1500 (Stands) for the event which is scheduled to box off from 19:00hrs.
