ExxonMobil U14 c/ships commence with wins for Bartica, St. Cuthbert’s Mission

St. Cuthbert’s Mission and Bartica recorded wins in the boys division whilst Waramuri and Westminste­r clinched victories in the girls section of the ExxonMobil U14 football championsh­ip yesterday at the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) ground, Carifesta Avenue.

In the boys’ pool, St. Cuthbert’s Mission crushed New Central High 4-1. Peter Khan bagged a double in the second and fourth minute whilst Trevor Gordon netted in the 13th and 14th minute. For the losing team, Rawl Oselmo scored in the 40th minute.

Similarly, Bartica crushed New Amsterdam 3-0. Riley Tracey recorded a brace in the 22nd and 33rd minute, whilst Joshua Joseph netted in the 36th minute.

In the girls division, Waramuri mauled Vergenoege­n 13-0. Mecehelle Williams scored six times in the sixth, 11th, 13th, 18th, 30th, and 38th to lead the rout. Supporting with doubles were Mnemosyne Peters [fourth and ninth], Allia Henry [first and 39th], and Jada La Cruz [34th and 40th]. Adding a goal in the 37th minute was Brenita Marks.

Likewise, Westminste­r dismantled West Ruimveldt 4-1. Stacey Jones netted twice in the first and 11th minute, whilst Renisean Bowen and Odenica Bishop scored in the 30th and 39th minute respective­ly. For the losing team, Kadesha Boters scored in the 13th minute.

The event is supported by the National Sports Commission, Demerara Distillers Limited, the

Ministry of Education, and the Guyana Football Federation. Prior to the start of the event, a March Past featuring the majority of the competing schools took place.
