Daughter surprises mom with Courts home makeover

-

Courts’ “Operation Transformation,” a home makeover promotion captured the attention of Maya Persaud, Miss India Guyana 2021. The competition required entrants to compose an essay nominating someone deserving of a $750,000 living room renovation.

Persaud swiftly grasped the opportunity and chose to write about her mother, Nazeema Khan. She reflected, “Firstly, I got to know about Courts’ Operation Home Transformation through a text. I saw that you had to write about three hundred words nominating someone to win this competition.”

Thinking about her mother, who is a single mother of five, Persaud was motivated to participate. The mother in turn was thrilled and deeply appreciative when her daughter surprised her with the news of the living room makeover.

Interior designer, Raveena Mangal, along with the Courts team, visited the home to envision and commence planning the living room upgrade. Persaud and her mom were relocated to a hotel for twenty-four hours while the team redecorated the living room space.

Observing the space, Mangal had to strategise to efficiently accommodate all the necessary elements in the living room. After returning to the Courts outlet in Diamond and with the assistance of a colleague, Roshini Boodhoo, they carefully curated the ideal colour scheme and furniture, while incorporating the memorabilia that Persaud and Khan wished to retain.

Using her expertise as an interior decorator, Mangal opted for natural tones to impart a more spacious appearance to the

area. The Courts construction crew promptly set to work, replacing the flooring, repainting the walls, and installing a new PVC ceiling with new lights to create a cohesive look.

Giving prominence to the centrepiece of the living room, she chose a sectional couch to tie all the elements together. She also highlighted the benefits of sectionals for small spaces, providing both seating and functionality while maintaining a good flow.

In terms of accessories, the interior decorator considered the family’s desire to preserve their trophies and Persaud’s crown from the 2021 pageant. She sought to infuse personality into the space with gold and silver tones to complement the interior.

Once Mangal had a clear vision for the space, she swiftly collaborated with the Courts team to assemble all the pieces.

An enthusiastic mother and daughter returned home the next day, eager to witness the transformation. Outside, an equally excited duo, Mangal and Boodhoo, greeted them. They then blindfolded them and led them into their newly furnished living room.

When the blindfolds were removed, they were astounded by what they saw; Courts had exceeded

their expectations and the living room now boasted a brand-new TV, sofa, a dining set, and much more.

A visibly moved Nazeema Khan expressed her gratitude to the Courts team, and Maya also extended her thanks to the team for making it possible for her mom to experience comfort and style.
