Sideline whips Onion Field 3-0

-

Sideline and Ogle Street recorded contrasting wins when the 2023 edition of the Beterverwagting (BV) Inter-Block Football Championship commenced on Friday evening at the Community Center ground.

Sideline crushed Onion Field 3-0 in the feature contest of the opening night. Following a scrappy first-half period that failed to produce any conversions or noteworthy moments, Sideline broke the deadlock when Jemar Harrigon scored in the 50th minute. Latching onto a lobbed pass inside the area, Harrigon controlled the ball with his chest before slotting his effort into the back of the net.

Terrell Walcott was next to etch his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 63rd minute, uncorking a powerful right-footed strike into the far corner from outside the 18-yard area to increase the score to 2-0.

The outcome was then sealed by Royden Chapman, who found the back of the net in the 75th minute. Receiving a pass just outside the penalty box, Chapman rifled a powerful right-footed

effort into the right-hand corner.

Meanwhile, Ogle Street bested the Front Side Ballers 3-1 on penalty kicks after regulation time ended scoreless in the other match. The event, which is coordinated by Tea Cruel and DJ Darry, will resume on October 13th, at the same venue.

Housing Scheme will lock horns with Republic Drive at 18:00 hours, while Gulf Side will match skills with Triumph at 20:00 hours.

The winner of the event will receive $300,000, while the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will pocket $200,000, $100,000, and $50,000, respectively.
