Minister Ramson Jr., urges Pan Am Games athletes to give of their best

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Charless Ramson Jr., Friday met with some members of Guyana’s Pan Am Games contingent and urged the athletes to give of their best.

According to a press release, Minister Ramson Jr., also told the athletes to be proud representa­tives and use the opportunit­y as a building block for the achievemen­t of greater heights in all aspects of their career as athletes and general developmen­t.

Present at the meeting were members of the Guyana Olympic Associatio­n whose president Godfrey Munroe also expressed similar sentiments to the athletes.

The hybrid meeting took place at the Boardroom of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and according to the release, forms part of the new protocol between the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, National Sports Commission and Guyana Olympic Associatio­n as it relates to meeting with national athletes.

According to the release, the meeting was to ensure that all systems were in place to aid the athletes’ performanc­es and well-being. It was also used to wish them well prior to their sojourn.

Ramson Jr., extended well wishes on behalf of himself, the Government of Guyana and the people of Guyana.

He also spoke individual­ly to the managers and coaches of the respective discipline­s, engaging them on their preparedne­ss for competitio­n.

The Minister queried whether there were any challenges, or areas that the two organisati­ons could collaborat­e on to improve the athletes’ prospects at the games.

Godfrey Munroe, was present with members of his Executive Committee. He delivered a charge and wished all the athletes well on behalf of the GOA.

Guyana will be represente­d in the discipline­s of Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Swimming Weight Lifting and Esport The Chef-de-Mission is Deion Nurse.
