North Georgetown, St. John the Baptist storm into MVP Girls Pee Wee semifinals
Defending champions North Georgetown and St. John the Baptist were among the quarterfinal winners when the MVP Sports Girls Pee Wee Football Championship continued yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
North Georgetown and St. John the Baptist stood out in the elite eight section, following commanding wins. The holders mauled Tucville 6-0. Kaley Jack crafted a helmet trick in the 31st, 34th, 36th, and 38th minutes, while Isika Norville and Roshanna Mayers netted in the eighth and 12th minutes apiece.
Similarly, St. John the Baptist thrashed Smith Memorial 6-0. Shemia Hing amassed a helmet trick in the 15th, 20th, 24th, and 32nd minutes, with Akeelah DaSilva contributing to the score in the 40th minute. An own goal opened the proverbial floodgates in the fifth minute.
Meanwhile, Marian Academy downed Friendship 3-1. Skylar De Nobrega tallied a hat-trick in the fifth, 35th, and 40th minutes. On target in the loss was Deveann Lowe in the 18th minute. Also, West Ruimveldt brushed aside Potaro 3-0. Ariel Farley recorded a hat-trick in the seventh, 10th, and 16th minutes.
The 7th iteration of the event is slated to conclude on December 9th. The winner of the event will receive $150,000 towards a school project and a trophy, while the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will receive $100,000, $75,000, and $50,000, respectively, towards a school initiative and the corresponding accolade.
On the individual side, prizes will also be awarded for the eventual Most Valuable Player, Highest Goal Scorer, and Best Goalkeeper.
