Region Six APNU councillor calls for improved service from health profession­als

Region Six APNU Councillor Collin Moore is calling for improved “customer service” from medical profession­als within the region’s health care system and according to him while other sections of the health system have seen improvemen­t this aspect remains the same.

Moore speaking at the Regional Democratic Council of Region Six’s last statutory meeting on Thursday pointed out that while there has been “some sort of improvemen­t in the health sector infrastruc­ture” there must be improvemen­t in the “customer service.”

He said, that there are medical profession­als within the system that “will talk to you and you get more sick.”

Residents of Region Six have long complained about the attitude of medical profession­als within the system during their visits to the various health facilities.

Moore on Thursday said, “I would like us to look at that aspect in the new year.”

Furthermor­e, he stressed that training can be offered to improve this throughout the health system in the region.

Meanwhile, works are continuing at the sites where two state-of-the-art hospitals will be built in Region Six, as the government moves to improve the delivery of healthcare.

One of the new hospitals will be located in Fort Canje next to the Canje Bridge and a short distance away from the current New Amsterdam Hospital, while the second will be located at Number 75 Village, Corentyne.
