Fact/Tip: The highland region has the heaviest rainfall.

The main resources of this region are: 1. Timber such as crabwood, greenheart, and purplehear­t.

Let’s look at Some Important Places!

There are many important and interestin­g places in The Highland Region that you can visit.

Fact/Tip: Mount Roraima is the highest of the Pakaraima chain of tepuis or plateaux in South America. It is located at the junction of Venezuela, Brazil, and Guyana (serves as a tri-junction between Guyana, Venezuela, and Brazil)

Boys and girls you would agree with me that Guyanas’ Highland Region is unique and rich in natural resources.

We are going to look at some of the Mountain Ranges!

The main mountain ranges in this region are: • The Imataka Mountains in the North-West. • The extensive and majestic Pakaraima range in the South West

• The Kanuka Mountain Range divides the Rupununi Savannah into North and South.

• Kamoa Mountain Range forms part of the boundary between Guyana and Brazil.

• The Sierra Acarai Mountains in the South-East. They separate Guyana from Brazil.

Today, we examined the Highland Region and we mentioned that this is our largest natural region and the main source of our forest wealth. We learned that this region has a dense forest with taller trees and the heaviest rainfall. Also, the region is mountainou­s with many mountain ranges. Gold, diamond, and timber are the main resources found in the Highland Region.
