Caimans, Piranhas & Pitbulls chalk up wins
…as GCB T10 Blast continues
Spinner Ashmead Nedd snared 2-20 while fast-bowler Nial Smith (1-32) and spinner Dwain Dick (1-12) alongside Dimitri Cameron (1-24) were the other wicket-takers for the Jaguars.
In chase of a daunting 149 for victory, the Piranhas tamed the Jaguars, bowling them out for 93 in 9.4 overs. The Jaguars skipper, Kemol Savory briefly gave his side some hope with his knock of 24 from 10 while Chandrapaul Hemraj (17), Dick (14) and Carlos Larose (11) played minor supporting knocks.
Veteran spinner Veerasammy Permaul led the bowling for the Piranhas with 3-27 while Garfield Phillips had 2-7. Ricky Sargeant, Nigel Deodat and two others grabbed a wicket each.
. Playing for the second time yesterday, the Demerara Hawks were subjected to another defeat at the hands of the Demerara Pitbulls. This time, Junior Sinclair was the protagonist of the game as he turned in an allround effort to help his side beat the Hawks by 8 wickets.
Batting first, the Hawks innings could not take flight and ended on 737 with Aryan Persaud the lone batsman to offer aggression as he got 46 off 27 inclusive of six fours.
The experienced Pitbulls captain Christopher Barnwell led the way with 2-11 while Sinclair turned in a miserly 1/7 from his two overs.
Needing just 74 for victory, Sinclair smacked three fours and a pair of sixes in his 16-ball 34 while Malcolm Hubbard (17) and Sachin Singh (12) all chipped in as the Pitbulls raced to victory in just 6.4 overs.
.The tournament will take a break today with action continuing on Monday at the Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) ground on Thomas Lands, Georgetown.
