Chicago Fire signs Golden Jags Glasgow to short-term agreement

-

Yesterday, Major League Soccer’s (MLS) Chicago Fire Football Club announced that they have signed Golden Jaguars and Chicago Fire FC II’s forward Omari Glasgow.

According to a release from Chicago Fire, the MLS rules state “a Club may sign a player from its affiliate (MLS NEXT Pro or USL) to a maximum of four ShortTerm Agreements (up to four-day contracts) each season (maximum of 16 days). An individual player may be included on up to four MLS league season match rosters each season; however, that player may appear in no more than two MLS league season matches. An individual player may appear in any number of non-league games during the terms of his four Short-Term Agreements”.

Glasgow was listed as a substitute for Chicago Fire in last night’s match against the New England Revolution at Soldier Field.

The Guyanese winger was signed to a MLS NEXT Pro contract in March 2022 with Chicago Fire FC II and has played 42 matches (40 starts) for the side. The prolific winger has 12 goals and 10 assists under his belt in those 42 matches. So far in the new season, Glasgow has netted twice, as recently as last weekend in the club’s 2-0 win over Atlanta.

Since his debut on the international scene with the Golden Jaguars, Glasgow has been clinical in front of goal, scoring 16 times thus far.

Only recently, Glasgow made history by becoming the first Guyanese to bag the CONCACAF Nations League Young Player of the Tournament honours, and with seven goals in five games, he also won the CONCACAF Nations League Top Scorer accolade.
