Row over customer lands taxi driver in jail

-

A misunderstanding between two taxi drivers about who would pick up a customer, led to an altercation which landed them before a city court yesterday.

Albouystown resident Trevor Hawker, 36, was charged with unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm on Kelvin Wills, on August 20, at Georgetown but denied the allegation yesterday when he appeared before the court.

The accused allegedly threw a brick and a Guinness bottle at his co-worker after the two ended up in a heated argument over a job assignment.

The victim, Wills, sustained injuries to the left of his face, which caused him to receive stitches to his left ear and above his left eye. The prosecution related that the medical certificate referred to the injuries as possibly life threatening.

Police Prosecutor Kerry Bostwick objected to bail and Magistrate Judy Latchman ordered that the accused be remanded until his next court hearing, which has been set for September 7, in Court 1.
