Banks DIH Tapeball cricket continues

Berbice and Distributi­on Warehouse secured lopsided wins over Trisco and Central Service respective­ly when the Banks DIH Limited (Ltd) GT Beer InterDepar­tment Tape Ball Cricket Championsh­ip continued on Wednesday.

Staged at the Thirst Park ground, Berbice downed Trisco in the feature affair by five wickets. Asked to chase 41 in a reduced eight over affair, the Berbicians romped to 47-5 in 4.3 overs.

Deon Perreira top scored in the win with 15 runs compliment­s of 2x6s, while the next best scorer with six runs was Morgan Forde. For the bowlers, D. Beresford played a lone hand as he recorded impressive figures of 4-16, inclusive of three wickets in one over.

Prior to the successful chase, Trisco struggled to 414 in their allotted overs. Beresford led the eventual losers with 18 runs, mixed with 2x4s. Jason Outar was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2-7 in his spell.

Meanwhile, Distributi­on Warehouse disconnect­ed Central Service by eight wickets. Taking first strike, Central Service amassed 94-3 in their eight overs. R. Grant smashed 47 runs, showcased with 2x6s, and 4x4s, while B. Ferrier contribute­d 15 runs.

In reply, Distributi­on Warehouse smashed their way to 100-2 in 6.4 overs, led an unbeaten 50 from E. Hinds (6x6s, 1x4) and an equally effective 28 run blitz from S. John, littered with 4x6s.

The tourney which is slated to continue today at the same location, is being contested in a group format. Following the end of the round-robin stage, the championsh­ip will progress to the eliminatio­n round.

Group-A features Vehicle Workshop, Trisco/Novelty, Soft Drink Plant, Stores, Water Plant, and Berbice. Group-B comprises of Sales Department, Brewery, Central Service, Head Office/Audit, Linden and D/W/House.
