Singh spurs President’s College to massive win over Lusignan Secondary
Rajendra Singh scored a century as President’s College beat Lusignan Secondary by 212 runs when the East Coast Demerara leg of the 2016 Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) continued yesterday.
Played at the Enterprise Cricket ground, Singh struck 14 fours and seven sixes in his unbeaten 158 which took President’s College to 294/1 off just 25 overs.
David Wilson supported with 79, an innings which included six fours and one six during his 224-run partnership with Singh.
Lusignan, in reply, were bowled out for 82 in 16.3 overs with Dequan France scoring 34 of the total.
In the Georgetown Zone, Charlestown registered an impressive 10wicket victory over Dolphin Secondary at the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) ground.
Batting first, Dolphin Secondary were restricted to 86/9 off 25 overs with Shemar Yearwood and Jonathan Barton scoring 17 and 11 respectively.
Bowling for Charlestown, Tathesh Shivrattan took 2-8 and Jamal Michael 2-14 as their team raced to 86 without loss in just 6.2 overs with Jamal Michael scoring 41.
At DCC Ground, Christ Church Secondary made 186-4 which was enough to beat St Mary’s High by 91 runs with Alphius Bookie leading the way with 48 and Aaron Beharry scoring 43 not out.
St Mary’s High in reply were dismissed for 95 in 18.2 overs as Ronaldo Mohamed bagged 6-27.
At Bourda, Mae’s Secondary whipped Queenstown Secondary by 69 runs after making 136-7 off 23 overs with Jonathan Fuilay making 26.
Bowling for Queenstown Secondary, Akel Fraser and David Mc Garrel each picked up 2-17 while Sanjay Raghubeer grabbed 2-26.
Queenstown Secondary were then dismissed for 67 thanks to Ushardeva Balgobin who starred with 5-10 and Koseem Amos, who took 2-12.
In the East Bank Demerara fixture played at Everest, Soesdyke Secondary beat Houston by one wicket. Batting first, Houston Secondary scored 102-6 in 14.3 overs with Jeremiah Scott top scoring with 41. Bowling for Soesdyke, John Blair had 2-17.
Soesdyke ended on 1069 in 14.3 overs with Ithmar Barker scoring 21. Ram Mangar claimed 3-12, Damion Inniss took 2-20 and Jeremiah Scott claimed 2-27.
