Super bike races could steal the show

- (Emmerson Campbell)

Ever wonder what happens when you take some of the Caribbean’s fastest bikes and best riders and let them all compete on one track?

That will be a reality come November 13 when the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) plays host to the fourth and final leg of the 2016 Caribbean Motor Racing Championships (CMRC) at the South Dakota Circuit.

Guyana’s ‘Big Three’ of Stephen ‘Valentino Rossi’ Vieira and Matthew and Elliott Vieira will come up against ‘Super Bike King’ Kevin Graham of Canada, Jamaica’s Norman Chung along with the Trinidadian pair, Keil Abraham and Luke DeNobrega and Joel Neblett among other local riders.

While the spotlight is on the drivers in the Group 4 category who are competing for the Caribbean Championship, the heavily subscribed super bike races can steal the show since it will be one of the hottest in years.

President of the GMR&SC, Mahendra Boodhoo recently said that the Super Bike races are must see events.”

He added that an entertaining day of thrills, speed and excitement awaits. Boodhoo also noted that the club is “making it better for our fans and spectators to have better viewing as the local racers look to defend home turf.”

Stephen and Elliott will be throttling their Kawasaki ZX6R’s while Matthew will be astride his Yamaha R6.

Graham, DeNobrega and Abraham are also expected to push their R6s to the limit.

Come race day, motor racing fans will see some of the fastest machines in the Region, but the riders are not about fun and games. Reality forces perspective and despite their innocuous exterior, the built for speed machines and the racers will invade the circuit with one game plan; to win as fast as possible.

GTT, Ansa McAL and Fly Jamaica are already on board with the mega event.

Tickets cost $2000.
