Food and Drug Dep’t urges water processors to conform to requirements
The Government Analyst-Food & Drug Department (GAFDD), in a press release, is calling on all water processing factories to conform to all the department’s requirements as it relates to the sale and distribution of treated water in five-gallon bottles.
In its release, the GAFDD advised that manufacturers and distributors and all premises involved in the processing, distribution and sale of drinking water, particularly in five-gallon bottles, must have a valid licence. Also, bottles must be properly cleaned, sanitized, labelled and sealed prior to sale and/or distribution.
The release added that consumers must ensure that water purchased from various sources is properly labelled and sealed and report any company that fails to comply with the department’s minimal requirements as it relates to the sale of treated water. Consumers making purchases should also demand to see a valid licence issued by the Food and Drug Department.
