Banks DIH renews support for Petra/Limacol

Banks DIH Limited under its GT Beer Brand joined the growing list of corporate entities to support the 2nd Annual Petra Organizati­on/Limacol Football Championsh­ip, donating an undisclose­d sum yesterday at a simple presentati­on ceremony.

Troy Peters, Communicat­ion Director of Banks DIH Limited during the feature address at the Thirst Park headquarte­rs said “It’s a continuous relationsh­ip between Petra, Banks and Limacol, and over the years the company has been supporting football throughout the length and breadth of Guyana”

According to Peters “We are happy to be on board this year because we this as a developmen­tal phase of football in Guyana and a lot of players will benefit. We will be sponsoring under the GT Beer Brand”.

“We will continue the support of football in Guyana and we are happy that there are organizati­ons like Petra that keep football going. We are looking forward to an exciting time and wish all the teams and the organizers success” he added.

Meanwhile, Petra Organizati­on CoDirector Troy Mendonca said “On behalf of the Petra Organizati­on and the entire football fraternity, I want to express my gratitude to Banks DIH Limited for coming on board. As you know, the organizati­on and the company has a good relationsh­ip and hats off to them for continuing their social responsibi­lity”.

He added “Them coming on board is a good sign for the sport and thanks to the management and staff of Banks DIH Limited. GT Beer will be the official drink of the event and I hope the relationsh­ip continues for years to come and go from strength to strength”.

“When we formed this organizati­on, our mandate was to revitalize football at the school level and fill any other area we see” Mendonca said. The event will be contested in an initial round-robin format, with the top two finishers progressin­g to the quarterfin­al round.

Group-A consists of Milerock, Winners Connection, Grove Hi-Tech and Northern Rangers whilst group-B features Western Tigers, Uitvlugt, Eagles and NA United.

Group-C comprises Santos, Pouderoyen, Den Amstel and Ann’s Grove while group-D contains Guyana Police Force (GPF), Riddim Squad, Camptown and Mahaica Determinat­ors.

It will officially kickoff commence on January 3rd at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda with a groupD doublehead­er as, GPF battles Mahaica Determinat­ors and Riddim Squad tackles Camptown.

It will then resume on the 27th, with Western Tigers engaging NA United in a group-B affair and Santos opposing Ann’s Grove in a group-C encounter at the GFC ground. The following day the event will move to the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground in Linden with Milerock battling Northern Rangers and Winners Connection facing off with Grove Hi-Tech
