Man charged with stealing $700,000 from Republic Bank customer’s account
A 32-year-old man was yesterday granted bail, after he appeared before a city court, charged with stealing over $700,000 from an account at Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited.
Gavin Kelvin was read a charge by Magistrate Fabayo Azore, which stated that between February 6 and May 5, at Republic Bank, he stole from the account of Winnett Mingo, US$3,582, equivalent to $777,411, property of Mingo.
After the charge was read, the defendant of 119 Melanie, pleaded not guilty.
No facts in relation to the matter were stated by the prosecution.
Kelvin was granted $75,000 bail and will make his next court appearance on June 14.
