-

The second suspect in the murder of mechanic, Terrence Lanferman, who was gunned down at his Mocha, East Bank Demerara home in 2015, was yesterday charged.

Sedley Liverpool, 30, stood before Magistrate Fabayo Azore, who read the charge which stated that he, on June 1, 2015 at Nelson Street, Mocha, murdered Lanferman.

Liverpool, a pork knocker, denied the allegation levelled against him.

Subsequently, the prosecution informed the court that the file in relation to the matter is complete and that there would be a total of 18 witnesses, who will testify in the matter.

Liverpool was then asked by the Magistrate if he would be retaining a lawyer to which he responded in the affirmative, adding that he was held for several hours and was not able to contact family members before coming to court.

Magistrate Azore subsequently remanded the defendant, informing him that on the next court date his Preliminary Inquiry would commence or another date set if he needs more time to secure an attorney.

The matter was then adjourned to June 22.

On January 31, 2017 Kenkassie Lynch was committed to stand trial at the next practicable sitting of the Demerara Assizes, at the High Court, for the very offence.

Lanferman, 23, of Lot 127 Nelson Street, Mocha, was shot dead executionstyle at his home around 7.30 pm on June 1, 2015. He sustained two gunshot wounds, to the chest and neck, and was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

At the time, he was the lone occupant of the bottom flat of the two-story house, where he resided with his mother.
