West Ruimveldt guard remanded over Sophia murder

A security guard was yesterday charged with the murder of Trevor Dublin, the BK Internatio­nal employee who was stabbed to death in `C’ Field, Sophia late last month.

Neibu Archer, 31, of 469 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, appeared in the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Zamilla Ally. He was not required to plead to the charge which read that on June 24, he murdered Dublin at ‘C’ Field, Sophia.

The unrepresen­ted man, who said he was employed at Integrated Security Services, was remanded until his next court date. He is expected to return on August 17, before Magistrate Alicia George in Court 2 at Sparendaam.

Archer was arrested on Tuesday last in West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme.

Police were able to crack the case after two witnesses came forward and told the police that they noticed what appeared to be bloodstain­s on the suspect’s clothing prior to the discovery of Dublin’s body.

This newspaper was informed that during questionin­g, the suspect reportedly admitted to investigat­ors that after the incident, he went to the home of one of the witnesses and related that he had just stabbed Dublin, who appeared to be dead.

Dublin, 49, of Lot 385, ‘C’ Field, Sophia, had sustained a single stab wound to the left side of his chest. An autopsy revealed that he died as a result of perforatio­n of the lungs.

The police, in a press release, had said that his body was found by police ranks who were on patrol in the Sophia area. A knife and a toque were found in close proximity to the body, the statement had said.
