-

The police in Linden yesterday apprehended murder accused, Kendell Skeete, one of the thirteen prisoners who tunneled their way out of the Lusignan prison pasture on Monday.

Public Relations Officer of the Guyana Police Force, Jairam Ramlakhan confirmed that the arrest was made around 11:15am in the Wisroc Housing Scheme, Wismar, Linden. He was found in an abandoned house.

Thirty-four-year-old Skeete was held during May 2015 after seven years on the run. He was charged with the October 2008 murder of Kenneth Allen who was stabbed to death.

A total of nineteen prisoners altogether had managed to escape during the July 9 break out at the Camp Street prison and the most recent at the Lusignan prison pasture.

Two of the six: Desmond James and Cornelius Thomas, who escaped on July 9 have since been recaptured while the other four: Bartica massacre convict Mark Royden Williams, Stafrei Alexander, Uree Varswyck and Cobena Stephens remain on the lam.

Clive Forde, Kerry Cromwell, Pascal Smith, Paul Goriah and Shawn Harris, who fled on Monday are yet to be apprehended.

The others Winston Long, Tishan McKenzie, Odel Roberts, Jamal Forde and Rayon Jones were nabbed at various locations on Monday evening.

As the manhunt continues for the remaining escapees, Stabroek News was informed that a joint services operation was ongoing yesterday around the Le Repentir Cemetery area. It is suspected that some of the inmates may be hiding in its sprawling grounds.
