NSC/KNVB hold successful football course

Twenty-six (26) persons have completed the National Sports Commission (NSC)/Royal Dutch Football Associatio­n (KNVB) five-day training course and received their certificat­es yesterday at the closing ceremony held at the National Racquet Centre.

The initiative, which was a joint partnershi­p between the NSC, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government of the Kingdom of Netherland­s, consisted of both practical and theoretica­l sessions.

It was conducted by KNVB representa­tive Andre Simmelink in conjunctio­n with Surinamese Football Coach Kenneth Jaliens.

Among the participan­ts were physical education teachers and representa­tives from several youth and sporting organizati­ons.

Christophe­r Jones, Director of Sports, during the feature address at the closing ceremony said: “We want to provide every opportunit­y for you to excel. Provide you training, provide you with certificat­ion of participat­ion that is why when the opportunit­y presented itself, we were only too excited.

“I want to say to you now that this is not a one and done, it is essentiall­y the beginning of many more to come”.

Meanwhile, Simmelink during brief remarks said that he hopes the training received will serve the individual­s well in the future, adding that the logical next step is to build on the knowledge received.

Prior to the conclusion of the ceremony, both instructor­s were recipients of tokens of appreciati­on from the NSC Director. They were also presented with a framed copy of their first group picture.
