Save Abee in medical o at Black Bush, Imbai

The Save Abee Foundation, a registered not for profit organisati­on based in the US, Canada, and Guyana, recently concluded its fourth annual set of medical outreaches here.

A release yesterday from the group said that after consultati­on with stakeholde­rs it was decided that the Save Abee medical team would focus on the communitie­s of Yakusari, Black Bush Polder in Region 6 and Imbaimadai in Region 7.

It said that on the 15th of July 2017, a team of doctors, dental surgeons, nurses, dental technician­s, medical students, optometry students, dental students, educators, and volunteers visited the Yakusari Primary School, where they tended to 280 patients. The release said that services offered included medical consultati­on/ examinatio­n, dental cleaning, filling and extraction, eye testing, HIV testing, cancer screening, and suicide prevention talks.

On the 17th of July 2017, the team visited Imbaimadai where 150 patients were seen. The release said that residents expressed their gratitude to the team for providing the various services, especially dental, optometry, HIV testing and cancer screening. The village leader said that a dentist has not visited their village in about ten years.
