GDF romp to easy victory over Falcons

- First round of Bounty Farm 15s league ends

-

The Guyana Defence Force ended the first round of the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) Bounty Farm 15s league on a high after romping to a 62-10 win over Falcons Sunday at the National Park rugby field.

The GDF offense was in full throttle as the team scored 26 points in the first half and a whopping 36 in the second.

The GDF made light work of the Falcons defence early in the encounter with tries from Troyton Braithwaite, Delon De Abreu and Breon Walks, supported by two conversions by Cloyd Prowell.

Rashad Butcher recorded the only try for Falcons which ensured they did not suffer the indignity of starting the second half scoreless.

When play resumed, GDF continued their dominance by racking up a further 36 points in the second half. Rodwell Hutson and Patrick King added their names to the score card for GDF with Prowell again converting the tries successfully.

Falcons, clearly the underdogs, nevertheless continued their valiant fight when Daniel De Abreu gave his team a try. It was however not enough to stop their experienced opponents as four more tries were added by the army men.

King and Delon De Abreu scored two more tries while Prowell and Aluka Venture added a try each. Successful conversions came from Prowell and Dwayne Schroeder.

Meanwhile, Hornets won Saturday’s game against Caribs by walk over because the latter club was unable to produce a full team by starting time.

Round two starts next weekend at the same location and at the same time.
