Two held over attack on Parika supermarke­t

Ranks of ‘D’ Division have arrested two men who allegedly committed a robbery at a Supermarke­t at Parika, East Bank Essequibo, police in a statement said yesterday.

The arrest of the suspects, a 27 year old resident from the Essequibo Coast and a 17-year-old from East Coast Demerara were made after the robbery of Jin Li-Luo, 37, a manager o a supermarke­t located at Parika Highway.

Initial investigat­ions, police said, revealed that the suspect entered the supermarke­t, made a purchase and subsequent­ly one of the suspects whipped out a handgun. During the stick up the bandits demanded cash which was handed over to them and then made good their escape on foot.

The statement added that one of the suspects who was sho in the right foot, was confronted by ranks on police patrol. The other arrest was later made on Wednesday night in Parika after police acted on further informatio­n received.
