John bests field to win Pow­er­Ade 40-mile road race

Ja­mal John re­turned to his win­ning ways yes­ter­day.

One day af­ter plac­ing sec­ond in the Na­tional Park to Geron Wil­liams, the sea­son’s most suc­cess­ful wheels­man turned the tables on his fel­low na­tional rider to cart off the spoils of the 40-mile Pow­er­Ade road race staged at West De­mer­ara.

The Team Coco’s stand­out won a fierce bunch sprint to record his 12th win of the sea­son in one hour, 35 min­utes and 19 sec­onds. He also pock­eted a sprint prize in lead­ing Paul DeNo­brega and Wil­liams on the podium.

Akeem Wilkin­son, Wal­ter Grant-Stu­art and Sil­vio In­nis filled out the top six re­ward­ing po­si­tions for the event which started at the De­mer­ara Har­bor Bridge (DHB), pro­ceeded to Parika and re­turned to the DHB for the fin­ish.

Other win­ners yes­ter­day in­cluded: War­ren ’40’ McKay (vet­eran), Talim Shaw (Moun­tain Bike) and Nigel Duguid (Ju­nior).

The cy­cling sea­son will con­tinue on Novem­ber 11 with the stag­ing of a ‘Dash for Cash’ event in the Na­tional Park.
