Trophy Stall to sponsor eighth annual Open doubles tournament

-

The popular Trophy Stall of Bourda Market will sponsor the eighth annual Open Guyana Tennis Association (GTA) doubles tournament which is set to commence shortly. The categories to be contested this year are the men’s and ladies doubles mixed doubles and men’s over 45 doubles.

“Trophy Stall doubles has established itself as the foremost doubles tournament of the calendar year with eight years running,” a press release from the association stated.

“It is the only exclusive doubles tournament on the Guyana Tennis Association’s (GLTA’s) calendar and is an opportunity for seasoned doubles players to take part in one of the most intense forms of the game, which entails a battle of skills, power and excellent hand work at the net,” the release added.

Proprietor of Trophy Stall, Ramesh Sunich, speaking of last year’s tournament, said he had recognized the state of the sport locally as the association continues to work with degrading facility but players brave the circumstances to have fun and engage in battle for the titles.

Trophy Stall has been a valued partner in keeping this form of the game alive, said the release adding that this will be the last tournament for the year on the association’s calendar.

“This year will showcase high drama and battles as players contend in the last tournament of the year to finish the season strong in hopes of securing their spot at the top of the ranking table. The tournament Coordinator is Shelly Daly-Ramdyhan,” the release stated.

All games will be played at the National Racquet Centre and Le Ressouvenir.
