A Diamond, East Bank Demerara woman was left traumatized on Sunday night after she was confronted by a gunman who relieved her of her motor vehicle with her sleeping niece inside.

Samantha Williams of Diamond Housing Scheme was opening the gates to her yard when she was confronted by the gunman, who later drove off with her vehicle.

Williams last night told Stabroek News “I came home minutes to ten and parked on the bridge and went to open the gate. As I was opening the gate I saw a car pull up a little beyond my bridge and I found it strange but I didn’t see no one come out of the car. I was looking.” She added that as she continued to open the gate, the man approached her and pointed the gun in her direction. “I was already in the yard but the car was still parked on the bridge but I see he walking up to me and pointed a gun and jump in the car,” she recounted. Williams said when the hijacker drove off with the car she started to scream “my niece in the car! My niece in the car!”

It was at this point the car stopped two houses away and she saw her niece exiting the vehicle. Williams said her nineyear-old niece told her that the man told her to get out and she asked him why but he kept telling her get out, Williams explained.

Police said an investigation has been launched to locate a Blue Spacio motor car bearing registration number PVV 9496.
