Among the positions that are being advertised are gallery hand, baker, daily cooks and utility hand.

Established in 2008, the JSL International “Group of Companies” currently operates in over 12 countries, with the Corporate Headquarters located in Houston, Texas, USA.

At present, JSL is working to execute its local content strategy in Guyana, which as Stabroek News understands involves training and developing Guyanese nationals in order to build the required competency for them to hold offshore positions within the oil and gas sector on Drilling Rigs and Floating Production, Storage and Offloading Vessels.

This is done through what the company says is its “unparalleled unique selling point,” which enables clients to focus on their core business.

Essentially, the company, which operates in the Caribbean and Latin America region, aims to minimise the logistical, project support, administrative and coordinating challenges that are faced by organisations seeking to enter and establish major oil and gas operations within the Caribbean, North, Latin and the South American Region.

This, is aided by its Oil and Gas expertise/knowledge, which spans 75 years’ contract labour experience in the oil and gas industry accompanied by a database comprising over 1,500 resumes of “extremely qualified personnel.”

The scope of services provided by JSL, as stated on its website, include but is not limited to: Manpower Planning and Resourcing and Supply of both Onshore & Offshore Personnel; Offshore and Onshore Catering Services; Agency Services; Provision of Onshore and Offshore Logistical Personnel; Yard and Warehousing Space; Technical Project Mobilisation and Support; Third Party Services; Entry Strategy and Customs and Brokerage Services; Meet and Assist; Work Permits; and Transportation Services.

According to Renatha Khan, Corporate Communications Advisor of the company’s local operations, JSL made its entry into Guyana in 2011, when it supported two offshore projects: Atwood Oceanics and Daimond Offshore.

With specific regard to the benefit of its presence in Guyana, she stated that with its entry into the Guyanese market, it has brought both employment and training opportunities as well as the local vendors/economy.

“Guyanese will benefit from employment- and training opportunities. Our company is led by futuristic thinking visionaries in a learning environment together with a creative, competent, innovative team engaging in open and honest communication, consultation and participation in fair working practices. This is what we stand for and this is what we are enrolling in the entire Organisation across the world,” Khan added.

In response to questions regarding training of local staff, it was explained that owing to the fact that they view their human resources as their most valued assets, JSL International offers training to our employees.

“As incorporated in our Operational Excellence Charter, Our People are our most valued assets; and the major contributing factor towards the success of the JSL Group of Companies. We will continue to strive to have the best and whenever necessary we will train the attracted to become the best,” Khan said.

Stabroek News understands that in addition to Guyana, JSL also has supporting operations in Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, Suriname, Venezuela, Mexico and Colombia. JSL supports 45 major oil and gas operations worldwide comprising of drill ships, semi-submersible drilling rigs; jack-up drilling rigs; and production platforms.
