DCC through to U19 final

- By Romario Samaroo

The Demerara Cricket Club yesterday booked their spot in the final of the Georgetown Cricket Association/ New York/ Tri-State U19 tournament after beating the New York U-19 by 47 runs at the Georgetown Cricket Club.

Batting first on a good surface and a lush outfield DCC posted 206 from their 50 overs.

They then dismissed the New York side for 159.

New York started well with a few early wickets but opener Brandon Jaikarran with a solid 38 set the platform for Sagar Hathiramani to come in and play his naturally aggressive game for the top score of 60, an innings which included three fours and two sixes. Hathiramani partnered with Nkosi Beaton to resist the New York's attack, the pair adding 50 runs before Beaton fell for 29.

Gotham Ravindran picked up 421.

In reply, New York had a few batsmen getting starts but failed to convert into big scores.

Left arm orthodox, Daniel Mootoo, bamboozled the New York batsmen with only opener, Raymond Ramrattan reaching 30.

Mootoo finished with 3-19 while former West Indies U-19 player, Ashmead Nedd bagged two wickets.

The final will take place tomorrow with DCC battling Malteenoes who defeated GCC in the other semifinal.
