Activade Energy Drink on board as official drink
GCF National Championships..
Sueria Manufacturing Inc. of Eccles Industrial Area, East Bank Demerara, under their Activade Sports Drink brand has joined with the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) for its marquee event, the National Championships which pedals off this morning with the Individual Time Trials on the Linden Soesdyke Highway. Brand Manager Selwyn Bobb on Thursday handed over cases of the drink to Assistant Racing Secretary of the GCF, Joseph Britton, at the company’s Industrial Site Bond. “Sueria Manufacturing Inc., is proud to be part of the GCF Championships having sponsored recently, the United We Stand Cycle Club’s Three Stage Race, under our brand, Activate Energy Drink,” said Bobb.
“At Sueria it is our mandate to give back to the society in which we operate and one sure way of giving back is through the sponsorship of sports,” he added.
Bobb noted that Activade offers all athletes’ energy as it revives and hydrates.

Activade is well known in the sports fraternity and it’s the official energy drink of several sports teams.”
Bobb said that Sureia was confident that their sponsorship under the Activade brand will go a far way in assisting the cyclists participating in the championships.
Britton, in response, thanked the company for its partnership with the federation to ensure that the cyclists will be adequately hydrated during the three-day event.
The nation’s best cyclists will be battling for top honours and bragging rights in the senior men, masters, juniors, juveniles and ladies categories commencing with the Individual Time Trials, today. Tomorrow, attention will turn to the Road Race for the juveniles, juniors, masters and ladies while on July 1, the senior men’s Road Race will be contested.
The Time Trails for the senior men, juniors and masters will be over a distance of 12.43 miles or 20km while the ladies will compete over a distance of 6.21 miles or 10km. The starting and finishing point is the Yarrowkabra Police Outpost from 09:00hrs.
The Road Race route tomorrow, for the masters, juniors, juveniles and ladies will commence at Homestretch Avenue from 07:30hrs in front of the National Sports Commission, proceed East along Homestretch Avenue, right into Mandela Avenue, left at DSL into the East Bank Carriageway, South along Houston Public Road all the way to Timehri where cyclists will turn around at the end of the double road.
They will then return to the Linden Soesdyke Junction, make a right onto the Linden Soesdyke Highway and turn around at Long Creek before returning to the starting line at Homestretch Avenue for the finish.
After turning back at Timehri, juveniles and ladies will not make the right turn onto the Linden Soesdyke Highway, they will continue on the downward journey to Homestretch Avenue for the finish. The masters and juniors will cover a distance of 80 miles (128.75km) while the juveniles and ladies will battle over 52 miles (83.69km). The GCF has stated that junior and juvenile cyclists will not be allowed to compete at these championships without adequate gear. The federation has indicated that this is an UCI rule that will be enforced adding that clubs would have been encouraged to follow this rule for three years now.
The route for the senior men’s Road Race on July 1 which starts at 07:30hrs: start at Homestretch Avenue and follow the same route as the juniors and masters. The seniors however, will proceed to Mobilissa on the Linden Soesdyke Highway before returning to the starting line at Homestretch Avenue for the finish, a distance of 110 miles (177.03km).
The respective defending champions are Raynauth Jeffrey (Senior RR and ITT), Clair FraserGreen (Ladies RR and ITT), Briton John (Junior RR), Curtis Dey (Junior ITT), David Hicks (Juvenile RR), Warren Mc Kay (Masters U-45 RR), Lear Nunes (Masters ITT), and Gordon Spencer (O-45 RR).
