Fifteenth P&P 11-stage cycling meet set for Saturday

Guyana’s top riders will converge at the inner circuit of the National Park, Thomas Lands this Saturday to compete in the 15th annual P & P Insurance Brokers and Consultant­s 11-stage cycling meet.

The event is expected to begin at 09:30hrs and the cream of the crop of Guyana’s cyclists will be competing.

Among those expected to be on show for the Hassan Mohammed organized event are Paul DeNobrega, Jamaul John, Andrew Hicks, Warren ‘40’ McKay, Junior Niles, defending Under-50 veteran, Jaikarran Sukhai, Curtis Dey, Romello Crawford, Deeraj Garbarran, Michael Anthony and others.

The likes of Raynauth Jeffery, Raul Leal, Hamzah Eastman, Shaquel Agard, Walter Grant-Stuart and Alonzo Ambrose are just a few of the local talents that are plying their trade overseas with defending champion, Mario King uncertain to compete as well due to commitment­s.

This will provide an opportunit­y for the younger generation to capitalize and signal their domination on the local circuit.

Last year, King, of We Stand United, outrode Ambrose of Team Alanis in a thrilling two-man sprint finish to cart off the spoils of the feature 35-lap in a time of one hour, 18 minutes and 21 seconds. In the other events the winners were Jonathan Ramsuchit (BMX Boys and Girls 1214 years), Gerard Barrington (BMX Boys 6-9 years), Ryan Canterbury (Mountain Bike), Briton John (Juveniles), Jaikarran Sukhai (Veteran U-50 years) and Andy Spencer (Veteran O-50 years).

P & P of Lamaha and Thomas Street CEO Bishwa Panday and other representa­tives will be there to witness the race and present the prizes at the completion of the Mohammedor­ganised event.
