The two Guyanese teams, Electra and the School of the Nations enjoyed mixed fortunes as the Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools Cricket Tournament continued in Barbados.

Electra beat Lester Vaughn School of Barbados by 38 runs while ‘Nations’ suffered a 94run loss to Fatima College of Trinidad and Tobago.

Electra romped to 118, with Quinton Simpson, who clobbering an unbeaten 76 which included five fours and three sixes, receiving support from Kevin Christian with 18 not out. Pacer Elian White ripped through the batting order to finish with figures of 5-35.

Lester Vaughn received an excellent start with both their openers scoring 22, but the team failed to capitalise on the foundation, and slumped from 52-2 to 80 all out.

Meanwhile, ‘Nations’ opting to field, after winning the toss, spilled six catches, as Fatima posted 185-8 from their 40 overs.

The ‘Nations’ wicketkeeper, who had a horrid day in the field, put down four chances, as Jeremiah Cruishark smashed 67 at the top of the order, and Anthony Lochan smacked 51, batting in at seven. Nations were also sloppy with the ball as well, giving away 17 extras. Off spinner Tatesh Shivrattan and quickster Dambuka Ngquando picked up two wickets each, for 12 and 17 runs, respectively.

‘Nations’ batting line up could only muster 91 runs in reply. Colis Rimple was the top scorer with 20, while Andre Samaroo cracked 16, with four boundaries.
