West Front Road-Gold is Money, Tiger Bay clash in virtual final

-

In what could easily be considered a final, defending champion West Front Road-Gold is Money will oppose Tiger Bay tonight in the GT-Beer ‘Keep Ya Five Alive’ Football Championship round of 16 stage at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

The reigning kings of the event struggled in their first matchup due to their porous defensive line, which resulted in a nerve wracking victory via a penalty shoot-out.

Improvements will be needed if they are to emerge victorious and stand a chance to successfully retain their championship. It will not be an easy assignment, as Tiger Bay possesses the necessary quality to defeat any team.

Plagued by defections over the last two years, Tiger Bay has witnessed the return of their marquee players and as such, will be at full strength for the contest. Their aim will be to eliminate the current holders.

Meanwhile, the opening fixture of the night from 19:00hrs will pit Silver Bullets of Linden against the always formidable Back Circle. This is another marquee matchup of the round, which is expected to feature many goals and brilliant display of skills.

In the second fixture at 19:45hrs, last year’s losing finalist Future Stars will lock horns with emerging giant Ol Skool Ballers, in what promises to be another closely fought showdown.

The third fixture will then witness traditional heavyweight Albouystown battle the always dangerous North East La Penitence outfit from 20:30hrs.

The aforementioned clash promises to be a high scoring affair, as both teams are not known for their defensive capabilities.

Albouystown has a history of producing quality teams that have failed to live up to expectations. This year is no different, as Devon Dooker outfit is blessed with a plethora of attacking talents.

On the other hand, North East La Penitence feature the feared foursome of siblings Calvin, Levin and Alwyn Moore, alongside the always capable Shaquille Brown.

The other sponsors of the tournament include 94.1 Boom FM, Star Party Rentals, Fireside Grill N Chill, Ravi Investments and Colours Boutique.
