-No. 73, Tucber Park and Blairmont ‘A’ also advance to Play-offs

The Berbice Cricket Board’s organised Mike’s Pharmacy Under-15, 50 overs-a-side tournament continued last week with victories for Rose Hall Town Farfan & Mendes, No. 73, Tucber Park Cricket Club and the Blairmont Community Centre Cricket Club ‘A’ Teams, effectivel­y booking their spots in the playoffs alongside Albion Community Centre Cricket Club, Achievers Cricket Club and Kendall’s Union.

National Under-15 batsman Mahendra Gopilall blasted an attacking 143 for defending Berbice Under-15 champions Rose Hall Town while his teammate Jonathan De Vieira smashed his maiden century.

Jonathan Rampersaud added 83 from just 48 balls to see them posting 466-7 from 45 overs against Blairmont ‘B’ who could only muster 74 all out in reply.

After winning the toss, Gopilall’s innings was boundary riddled with five sixes and 17 fours while De Vieira clobbered 11 fours in his controlled innings.

Rampersaud also cashed in on the boundary feast with eight fours and two sixes.

Blairmont B’s best bowler was Rayad Gafoor with 2-87 while Rakeem Khan picked up 2-94.

In response, Blairmont ‘B’ lasted only 16 overs to hand the home team victory by 392 runs. Devin Singh top scored with 12 and extras contribute­d to 36. Matthew Pattaya took three wickets for 15 runs while Rampersaud returned to pick up 2-2 and Kevin Ramnarain 2-19. Jeremy Sandia, Shamar Scott and Christophe­r Deroop took one wicket each.

Meanwhile, at the No. 73 Ground, Upper Corentyne, No. 73 Young Warriors eased past Port Mourant by 56 runs.

Batting first, the home team scored 125 all out in 43.3 overs with Seeraj Chatterpau­l top scoring with 23.

Ramesh Bharrat bagged 4-18, Nuraj Shaindeo, 3-29 and Akeem Laundry, 2-26.

Port Mourant, in reply, were dismissed for 69 in 25.2 overs with Vettorie Latchman and Chatterpau­l picking up 5-20 and 4-18 respective­ly.

Blairmont A defeated Paradise by 211 runs at the Paradise Ground in West Berbice. Blairmont ‘A’ batting first amassed 246 for 9 from 40 overs with S. Rupnarine top scoring with 53. Paradise, in response, were bowled out for 35 with Romeo Deonarain taking 7-9.

Tucber Park defeated Rose Hall Community Centre by 86 runs at the Canje Welfare Centre. Tucber Park scored 140 all out in 30.4 overs with Tomani Ceasar 39 and Zeymul Ramsammy 20 being the principal scorers. Off spinner Sanjay Algu snared 4-26 and Bhaskar Dhani 3 -24 for the home team. The batters for Rose Hall failed to apply themselves and was bowled out for 54 with Kamsammy taking 2-4 and Justin Meagu 3-15.
