Mayor of Linden has been a failure

-

Dear Editor, I read some articles about the recent APNU primaries in Linden and I wasn’t shocked to see some councillors were rejected by their constituency. However I was shocked to see the Mayor and her Deputy will be returning on the APNU slate.

By now the entire Guyana should know my position with the development of our beloved Linden, and it’s no secret about my willingness to call out leaders when they are messing up. So today I must join with a recent letter writer in saying the current Mayor of Linden is a total failure and should not be returning even as a councillor, neither should her deputy.

In the Mayor’s constituency, she is disliked, missing in action and was recently blamed by residents for ignoring the plight of a sickly elderly gentleman not far from where she lives. The gentleman was rescued by residents after he was found in his toilet with his house flooded and was rushed to the hospital. The CIIP workers in her area came to the rescue of this gentleman. On a bigger picture, what has the Mayor done for Linden since assuming office? She spent so much time fighting the last Mayor when he was there and to date we are hearing complaints that she has delivered nothing. Her one project she tried to initiate, some Junior Mayor Project was a total disaster with several attendants to that forum saying they were embarrassed. The Deputy Mayor on the other hand is a total letdown, lots of talk and promises and yet he cannot deliver.

I am ready to take on the entire AFC/APNU council on what they have individually done for the people of Linden. The last time I spoke about my representative in Retrieve about his lack of representation the people spoke. He was voted out. Yours faithfully, Garth Nelson Retrieve, Linden
